About Hybrid Minimalist

Hi, I'm Christine Trac.

I'm a former strength coach with a Master's in Kinesiology (specializing in Exercise Physiology) and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS).

Hybrid Minimalist is where I document one long experiment.

Think of this as a public lab notebook that's a place where ideas are tested, assumptions are challenged, and every lesson is shared openly.

Over the next 17 months, I'll be testing whether a minimalist approach to training can produce meaningful improvements in strength, endurance, and body composition while training just six 30-minute sessions per week.

Rather than chasing every new trend, I'll build everything around three principles:

  • Evidence – Follow the science, not the hype.
  • Simplicity – Do less, but do it well.
  • Consistency – Build habits that last for decades.

Every article is part of that journey.

Some will be research reviews or training updates. Others will be conversations with coaches, researchers, and practitioners whose ideas challenge my own.

Whenever possible, I'll sit down with experts for one-on-one consultations to test my assumptions, refine my programming, and share the lessons I learn here.

I'll share what I'm reading, what I'm testing, what changes my mind, and—just as importantly—what doesn't work.

My hope is that this project inspires busy professionals to rethink what's possible when time is limited.

Too often, we're told that getting stronger or becoming a better runner requires hours in the gym every day. This experiment explores whether thoughtfully designed 20–30 minute workouts can produce exceptional results without taking over your life.

The goal isn't to prove that minimalist training is the best approach.

The goal is to discover where it works, where it doesn't, and to share everything I learn along the way.

A public experiment in strength, running, and minimalism.

I share practical lessons from my training, research papers, books, and conversations with leading coaches and researchers.
